How to Find a Good Lawyer – Part 8
How Do You Feel the Consultation Went?
After the consultation, when you go back to your car, take some more notes
before you drive off. This is will be an important step in your search to find an
attorney. Ask yourself if you felt appropriately comfortable discussing your
situation with the lawyer. I say "appropriately" because some discussions will
never feel comfortable simply because of the subject matter.
If you have been wronged by the acts or omission of another, the attorney should
be understanding of your situation. And if you have made some mistakes or
exercised poor judgment, do not expect the lawyer to applaud your actions.
However, the lawyer should provide you with specific legal counsel and if
appropriate, should advise you on how to avoid making the same mistakes.
Additionally, the lawyer should advise you on how to recover from any mistakes.
Is the Lawyer Compatible With You?
How you feel about the lawyer and how you feel the lawyer sees you is a very
important step in the search to find an attorney that is right for you. Some cases
are complex, very intense, and can last a year or more. Being able to communicate
effectively with your attorney is a critical component of the attorney / client
relationship and is very important consideration in your search to find a good
lawyer. If you do not feel that your personality and the personality of the lawyer
are compatible, your communications with the lawyer may suffer. And, if your
communications with the lawyer are not open and honest, that may end up
affecting the quality of service you receive and may even hurt your case in the long
run. If anything that is important to you does not seem right, you may be better off
continuing your search to find an attorney no matter how skilled that one may be.
If you went to the consultation with someone that you trust, they may be able to
help you in your search to find a good lawyer. You may consider discussing how
the consultation went and ask for their opinion. Overall, how do you feel the
consultation went? How do they feel about the consultation? Did you pick up any
additional clues about the attorney or the attorney's office? Did they pick up any
additional clues about the attorney or about the attorney's office. A frank
discussion about these matters may be very helpful in your search to find an
attorney and may ultimately help you choose a lawyer.
Is the Lawyer's Style Agreeable to You?
Also consider whether the attorney appeared knowledgeable about the matters
discussed. Did the lawyer point you to any laws in particular that you may be able
to review online after the consultation? Did the lawyer appear to have experience
in dealing with your kind of situation? Were you able to discuss potential solutions
to your situation? Were you able to discuss alternate plans depending on how the
issues in your situation could develop? Were you able to discuss how the situation
could impact your future?
Your search to find an attorney should also take into account whether the attorney
was focused on you and your legal needs during the consultation. Were there any
interruptions during the consultation? If there were interruptions, did they appear
to be warranted? Did the lawyer seem distracted with other matters? Did the
attorney seem sincere? Additionally, was the attorney able to understand the things
you were trying to explain? And did you understand the things that the attorney
explained to you?
Considering the answers to these questions will get you closer in your search to
find a good lawyer and can be of great help when you are ready to choose a
lawyer.
