If you reside in Apopka and need the assistance of a Central
Florida family law attorney or divorce lawyer... We Can Help You
Divorce, child custody, child support, and other family law cases are typically filed with the Court in the county in which the
parties reside. A few areas in Apopka are located in Seminole County. However, most of Apopka is located in Orange County.
Therefore, if you are married and you and your spouse live in Apopka, your Apopka divorce, child custody, child support,
alimony, visitation, modification, or other family law case, would typically be filed with the Court in Orange County.
If you reside in Apopka and the other party resides in
another city located in Orange County, like in the above
examples, your Apopka family law related case would
usually still be filed with the Court in Orange County.
But if you reside in Apopka and the other party resides in a
city outside Orange County, your Apopka divorce or other
family law related case would not necessarily have to be
filed with the Orange County Court, but could nevertheless
be filed with the Orange County Court.

Similarly, if you are the unmarried parent of a child and you live with
the other parent in Apopka, your Apopka child custody,
modification, child support, paternity, visitation, relocation, juvenile
dependency, or other type of family law case, would typically be
filed with the Court in Orange County.
However, as noted above, it is not the city of residence but the
county of residence which determines with what Court a divorce or
other type of family law case should be filed. And naturally, the
marital status of the parties is not a relevant factor for purposes of
determining with what Court a family law case should be filed.

The City of Apopka is named after Lake Apopka, the third largest lake in Florida. Lake Apopka, in turn, was
named after the Indians who previously inhabitated the Apopka area a couple hundred years ago. However, the
origin of the Apopka name itself is unclear.
Some say that the Apopka name was shortened from Indian words "aha" (meaning potato) and "papka" (meaning
eating place). Others say that the Apopka name came from the Indian word "tsalopopkohatchee" (meaning
catfish-eating creek) and that Apopka had originally been thus named. Then, when the Apopka name was
shortened to Ahapapka, the translation became that of "potatoes."
Although the origin of the Apopka name is unclear, we do know that Apopka was incorporated in 1882 as Apopka
City and that five years later the name was shortened to Apopka. Not long after, Apopka was dubbed "Fern City"
but the introduction of other tropical flowers led to a change in Apopka's nickname to "Indoor Foliage Capital of
the World.”
Apopka is the second largest city in Orange County and today, more than thirty eight thousand call Apopka home.
